The group intends to focus development of its hygiene sector business on its subsidiary Schülke.
Air Liquide confirmed on 9 October that it wished to sell its 66% stake in Laboratoires Anios. The group intends to focus the development of its hygiene sector business on its wholly owned subsidiary Schülke. With 700 employees and revenues of 200 million euros, the latter develops and markets disinfection, antiseptic and cleaning products for hospitals and doctors’ surgeries in particular.
In the context of the planned sale, Air Liquide received a firm offer from a consortium comprising the Letartre family, founders of Laboratoires Anios and current minority shareholder, and the investment company Ardian (formerly Axa Private Equity). It will respond to this offer at the end of the information / consultation process with the bodies representing the staff concerned. The transaction will then be subject to the approval of the French competition authorities.
Ardian’s objective within the consortium is to support Bertrand Letartre and Thierry Letartre in the planned expansion of Laboratoires Anios. It aims to help the company invest in R&D and accelerate the expansion of its international business, in particular through acquisitions. Founded in 1898, Laboratoires Anios already operates in 80 countries (30 % of revenue). It specialises in disinfection products for the health sector. It has around 450 employees (including 300 in France) and has annual revenues of 180 million euros.
