Sterility assurance, disposable devices and combined products: these are the three main themes of this 26th international A3P congress. From 15 to 17 October 2013, there will be no fewer than sixteen talks and eleven workshops at the Espace Bellevue in Biarritz (see detailed programme for the event). There will be technical discussions about issues such as ionising irradiation, risk analysis and leakage controls for single dose packs sterilised by vacuum steaming, as well as updates on the latest regulations, with particular reference to the new framework applicable to innovative therapies and GMP requirements relating to combined products. This year, the traditional round table talk to close the event will focus on two areas: the revision of Annex 1 of the European GMP for the production of sterile products, and the impacts of ready-to-use or disposable systems on sterility quality and assurance.

An international showcase

Once again this year, more than six hundred professionals are expected to attend, including around a hundred French and international exhibitors. Organised over the course of three days, alongside the talks, the exhibition is a fantastic showcase for businesses’ cutting-edge expertise. The event also provides a strategic networking opportunity thanks to its international dimension. These two points are repeated by new exhibitors when asked about their reasons for coming. Disposable-lab has booked a stand for the first time this year. Jean-Pascal Zambaux, its CEO, sees the A3P event as “a springboard for the French and even European market”.  For this young pharmaceutical company (set up at the end of 2008), specialising in disposable solutions for formulation and aseptic filling, the event is “a fantastic target to aim at”, as “it brings together pharma, biotech and injectables”.

“We attend so that we can present our top-of-the-range models”, explains Sébastien Lenoble, from Shield Scientific. The glove manufacturer sees this event as “an extremely specialist congress that offers us the opportunity to put the spotlight on very specific products”. This view is shared by Christophe Benoit from the Rommelag group, which produces plastic packaging, among other things: “we now prefer to focus on more specific events to improve awareness”. He also values the international scope of A3P: “there are many decision-making hubs in Europe, major French laboratories with an international scope”.
